Loved through discipline

Hebrews 12:6-8 NLT
6)For the lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.”
7)As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father?
8) If God doesn’t discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children at all.

We must realize that God is still looking out for us, even when someone or something brings hurt or disappointment. We often blame God and try to make him pay every time we feel hurt or let down, instead we need to realize that he’s saving us from something that would have hurt worst later down the line or may have even caused death physically or spiritually. Not taking heed to our father leads us into making things in life harder on ourselves. Not realizing that God’s chastisement is showing his love, causes us to suppress things he wants to manifest in us. We spend a lot of time going through turmoil that we wouldn’t have to if we had just accepted his love in the first place. Think about where you would be or how your life would be if you were never disciplined for wrongdoings. If you were never stopped from certain things that may have caused you to throw life away. Growing up, when parents would discipline their child(ren), they would say “I’m doing this because I love you”. As a child it’s something we don’t believe, but as you get older you realize that it’s the truth. This is exactly how it is with the father. He wants what’s best for us because he loves us. The great thing is that, not only does he want what’s best for us, but he “knows” what’s best for us, and knows what our destiny looks like. Accept his love, by allowing his rod and staff to comfort you. In other words accept his chastening.
