Made in his image

Genesis 1:26-27 KJVS
[26] And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
[27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

After reading that passage, I pose a question, do you resemble God? For decades, we have read these verses, and the first thing that would come to mind would be a physical resemblance. For example, the same way we see that we favor our parents, siblings and relatives. If we take a moment to tap into God’s spiritual realm, we’ll get an even better understanding of this. We will soon realize the we were made as spiritual beings, that are just having an earthly experience and not the other way around. We must choose to walk in the spirit more than in the natural. When man was created from the earth’s dust, we were nothing until God blew his breath in us. He blew his spirit in us, making us spiritual beings. In other words, acting in our natural state is useless. We often get the word confused when it says “God created man in his own image. When it says image, it’s not just pertaining to the physical. Why? Because God is not man, he is spirit! It also says “in his image, after his likeness”. There is a reason why the word says in “John 4:24 KJVS “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” When we leave this earth, our physical bodies will not go to God, our spirit does. This is the importance of living for God. The only way we can be in his presence is being in our spiritual state, which is how we were created in the first place. Our natural state separates us from our father, but walking spiritually is walking in God’s likeness.
